The effect of cognitive function and neuropsychiatric characteristics on duration and satisfaction of job for homeless in shelter

Abstract
Objective: This study aims that cognitive function and neuropsychiatric characteristics are correlated to the duration and satisfaction of job for homeless in shelter after job rehabilitation.

Methods: We surveyed total 31 homeless people in a various shelter in order to know general characteristics and their homeless life-style. Also, 3 occupational therapists evaluated their cognitive functions with K-MoCA and interviewed their neuropsychiatric features. Correlation analysis was performed to know how cognitive functions and neuropsychiatric features influence on duration and satisfaction of their job.

Result: 72.4% of 31 homeless people shows cognitive deficit and self esteem is significant lower than other neuropsychiatric features. Rather, the education level was correlated with the longer duration of job and the higher salary is correlated with higher satisfaction of job.

Conclusion: The cognitive function and neuropsychiatric features do not correlated with the duration of job and satisfaction of job. In the future study, it is needed to study the factors related process skills which is directly effect on job maintenance.
